Why does my 96 Lincoln Continental cut off when it iz sitting at an stop light?

Why does my 96 Lincoln Continental cut off when it iz sitting idel at an stop light. It is funny because it starts right back up when i turn tha key over. When i am driveing it it dont stall or nothing it just turns off when it iz just idel. This weekend i was parking illegally and my car was towed i let it sit in the yard for about three days and now it wont start at all it cranks but no start.
