94 toyota camry le 4 cylinder 175000 mi. Failed smog test twice?

94 toyota camry le 4 cylinder 175000 mi. Failed smog test twice I don't qualify for cap program since I am transferring into my name. Check engine light is on got codes 25 and 26 so it's running rich and lean. Car shakes and Runs rough idle and running ancd it is misfiring. I can smell gas comin from the rear of the car. Now i'm having a hard time starting the engine I have to pump / rev on gas to get rpms up just for engine to stay on. I'm running out of time to pass smog. I changed spark plugs and wires air filter...someone told me to change the fuel filter since I occasionally run my car on e or with the fuel light on. What could my problem ne and how can I fix it so I pass smog?94 toyota camry le 4 cylinder 175000 mi. Failed smog test twice? You said you changed your plugs and wires... Did you change the cap and rotor? If you haven't I would start there. But, word of warning... Take the cap off and leave the wires on it. mount the new cap on the distributor, then transfer the wires from the old cap onto the new one. One by one.

Don't forget to replace the Rotor (inside the cap) If you know all of this already I'm sorry to insult you with details.

Also if it's not the cap or rotor your distributor may be bad or heading there pretty quickly. From what you have told me I'm guessing it's your cap and rotor. Need any other info feel free to e-mail me

PS... it's a super easy fix!94 toyota camry le 4 cylinder 175000 mi. Failed smog test twice?Could be the catalytic converter, lot of miles.94 toyota camry le 4 cylinder 175000 mi. Failed smog test twice?Based on your codes your problem is most likely a bad oxygen sensor. This sensor tells the computer if your running too rich or too lean and then adjusts the mixture to compensate. There are two sensors, one before the catalytic converter and one after.
