How can I get my 86 Nissan Pulsar to pass smog - See Details?

I just got a 86 Nissan Pulsar for free. He told me that the car had failed smog and was advised that it was either the carburator or the catalytic convertor. After which he had stopped driving the car. The car was parked for nearly 2 years and when I went to get it. I found out that it had a bad battery. I replaced the battery and the car just started up with 2 tries. After which the car starts up all the time on the first try. The engine is not noisy either. It seems to be in a very good mechanical condition. It has a manual transmission and it drives really nice. I have it under Plan Non Op with the California DMV. I want to start driving the Car and I wanted to know that since I do not know exactly what the fault might be now since it had been standing for nearly 2 years should I change the spark plugs, distributer cap, plug wires, air filter, oil and oil filter, fuel filter and then get it smogged. Will it help?
